BPR’s Top 25 PR Projects: #2 TRW Automotive spin-off (2003)

TRW-Automotive-LogoFollowing Northrop Grumman’s purchase of TRW Inc. in 2002 and the subsequent spinoff of TRW’s automotive unit in March 2003, we helped the new TRW Automotive position itself as an independent, focused automotive supplier and global leader in auto safety technology.

Challenges: Crowded supplier space and an ultra-competitive market marked with larger competitors. Private equity ownership. Limited budgets. New corporate leadership.

Starting with a press conference at 2003 SAE World Congress, we helped TRW Automotive communicate its transformation into a leader in automotive electronics and smart automotive safety systems.TRW Plant

Continuing over the next 13 years with news releases, media ride and drive events, targeted interviews, technical tours, we supported TRW with proactive media relations right through the company’s acquisition and integration into giant global technology leader ZF.

Bianchi PR first started working with TRW in 1994 providing PR support for the supplier’s participation in the Convergence Automotive Electronics conference.

(Special thanks to Manley Ford, John Wilkerson and Lynette Jackson, who headed TRW Automotive’s communications efforts, for allowing us to support these efforts.)

BPR’s Top 25 PR Projects is a biweekly profile highlighting some of our favorite client projects, as we commemorate Bianchi PR’s 25th year in business.
